The Vietnam War saw the U.S. armed forces attempt to overpower a determined North Vietnamese foe with superior training and weapons.

As the years of conflict raged on, the Soviets supplied the North Vietnamese with more sophisticated aircraft and technology in an attempt to thwart these American efforts. Cmdr. J.R. “Hot Dog” Brown of the US Navy , faced this ever-changing threat, head on, in the cockpit of his F-8 Crusader.

He witnessed the evolution of U.S. Navy’s fighter tactics and training and helped prepare the next wave of Navy pilots for the life or death situations they would encounter in Vietnam.
